Really Cool Reading!

Hey Bloggers!

This week for reading we read a text called “Trees, seas, and soil”.  It was a very interesting text pretty much about how the world works, and how things reproduce. After that we had a 2 part create. The first part was to digitally put objects that affect our carbon footprint inside a sink, and write how 2 of them effect nature in a bad way. Then we had to find relationships between a poem about nature, the text, and our own knowledge. I presented mine all in one drawing, and put it on a table.

I loved this create and I like learning about climate change very much. hope you liked my work, and what affects your carbon footprint in  a bad way?

Ridiculous Roller Coaster!

Hey Bloggers!

GOAL – make connections between other texts and general knowledge to expand meaning and pose questions, using more sophisticated texts.

This week for reading, I chose to learn about roller coasters. We had to read an article and watch a video, and then make a create. In The create we had to write 5 questions that might be asked while designing a roller coaster, and then design our own! I really enjoyed it and I thought it was really fun. Here is my design!

I hope you liked my roller coaster! I think this was a very interesting reading task and i’m now quite interested in roller coasters. Would you ride my roller coaster?

Respectful Reading!

Hey bloggers!

This week for reading, we have been learning about how standing up is better for your health than sitting down. we were learning about how you can get a bad posture, heart rate, and many other things from sitting down. standing up on the other hand, is very good for you. The people in the text had shown proof of this, and I believed it. Anyways, out create was to invent a chair, that when sat on, is just as good for you as standing up. I would like to show you my slide.

I hope you liked my create, because I really enjoyed making it and I worked hard. What do you think of this theory? Thanks for reading, bye bloggers!

Perfect Peace!

Hey bloggers!

This is my final blog about our peace PBL, and I’d like to put a lot of effort into it. I am going to show almost all of my peace creates, all in one blog.

For the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions of Peace’.

Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. Some of these are a dove holding a leaf, a love heart, a peace sign, flowers ect.

These symbols represent peace because they are things that would normally make you feel happy, or things that mean love.

With these symbols in mind I created a Peace Artwork. My Peace Artwork represents peace because It had multiple peace symbols, and it showed hands shaking as a sign of an end of war.

We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about Martin Luther King JR. I thought this person was a champion of peace because He stood up to racism, and tried to bring peace to the world.

We also created a peace prayer book. I have attached my peace prayer book here.

I enjoyed learning about peace because it helped me learn how I can make others happy.

I learnt that to be a peacemaker you have to promote peace and show kindness to all.

One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by helping everybody, no matter what race or gender.

I have really enjoyed learning about peace, and I learnt a lot from it. Thank you for reading, and I hope you liked my blog. How could you be a peacemaker? Bye bloggers!

Precious Patterns!

Hey Bloggers!

This week for math we started learning about geometry. In case you don’t know, Geometry is shapes. For our create, we had to make a floor pattern using 6 different shapes and complimentary colours. Complementary colours are colours that when mixed together make grey, like Red and green; yellow and purple; orange and blue; green and magenta. The floor pattern also needed to be symmetrical, which means it is the same on both sides. I did this create very quickly, as I found it very easy. here it is:

I thought this was a fun start to this program, and I’m excited for when it gets harder. Can you find any complimentary colours I forgot? thanks for reading, bye bloggers!

Radical Reading!

Hey bloggers!

This week for reading we have been reading a text called “Boot Camp”. It is about a man called Joey who is an uncle and an older brother. He seems to have a dark past that nobody knows. It starts when his niece Liyah hops in his messed up old car. Joey was talking about how his life isn’t going too smoothly, and Liyah says he should go to church with her and her mum (Joeys younger sister). He says maybe, and then they arrive at boot camp. Joey tells her about his dark past, and when he went to prison and used to smoke. then it ends when they are driving away, but some guys walk up to their car and say “you need us Joey”. That was it. Nothing really happens in the text, and It’s a bit confusing, but later on I made a create to spice it up.

After reading the text, I made a report on it. Here it is:

I think by now I’ve pretty much explained what happened in the text. But this next part makes it a lot more interesting. You know how the story was left on a cliff hanger when 3 dodgy looking guys came up to Joeys car and said “you need us, Joey”? Well I made a backstory as to what could’ve happened before that, and I think its quite interesting. Here it is:

Did you like that? I hope you did, because I worked quite hard on it! Anyways, I think that added a lot of info to the text, and almost made it like a part 2. I hope you liked reading it! What was your favorite part? See you next time bloggers!

Scoring Science!

Hey bloggers! For the last 2 weeks, we have been given the opportunity to do science! We have done 4 experiments so far, and I’d like to tell you about one of them.

The question was “can you create a working light out of play doh? This experiment was to make a working LED light out of only play doh, a battery, a light with 2 cords hanging off it, and 1 cord with a piece on the end to connect the battery to. Here is a diagram of how it should look.

I think that if we stuck the 2 cords into 2 balls of play doh and did the same thing with the other wire but connected it to the battery, the light would turn on because the energy is being stored inside the play doh.

This experiment did work, and it functioned the exact way I thought it would. I think it was because there was enough energy in the play doh, that the play doh turned into a source of electricity or energy.

It was really fun doing science, and I loved doing so many experiments. I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I’ll see you next time. Why don’t you try this? Did it work? Bye bloggers!

Perfect poems!

Hey bloggers! we’re finally back to school, and that means back to blogging. We’ve started doing poetry for literacy, which is very fun! Its amazing how many different types of poems there are! We’ve wrote something for quite a few of the poem structures, and I’d like to share some with you. Here are my haiku’s and dimantes:

On haikus you have 3 lines or sentences. On the first line there are 5 syllables. On the second there are 7, and the third there are 5 again. They do not rhyme, and you cant use the same line twice. on a diamante there are 5 lines. You do a noun on the top line, and two adjectives to describe the noun on the second. You do 3 words ending with ing, also describing the noun. Then on the 4th you do another 2 adjectives, and the last you do the same noun as the beginning. I will now show you my limerick.

On a limerick poem, there are 5 lines. The first 2 have 8 syllables, and rhyme. The 3rd and 4th also rhyme (not with the first 2), and have 6 syllables. The last one has 8 syllables, and rhymes with the first 2. They normally are meant to tell a story, and are quite funny. I will now show you my biographical poem.

Here is the structure of a biographical poem.

I have loved doing all these different kinds of poems, and I never knew how fun it could be. I really hope you enjoyed this blog, and that you learnt a thing or two. Why don’t you do one of the poems? do you know any that I didn’t do? see you next time bloggers!

Marvellous maths

Hey bloggers! This weeks maths task was much like last weeks. We had to spin a wheel with the same 4 breakfast items (Hotcakes, Hot chocolate, Sausages, or porridge) And we had to evaluate what happened in the 45 spins. we had to write statements, and make a graph about what happened. I hope you like it!

This task was fun and easy. I would love to do more like this. Why don’t you do it? what were your results? Bye bloggers!

Perfect Poster!

Hey bloggers! This term for PBL, we are making a production! It is called Porridge. It is a play about crime, where they mixed heaps of fairy-tales together. It also has some awesome characters and songs! anyways, we were allowed to create a poster to advertise the play! We had to make them really colorful, and add all the details about the production. I worked really hard on mine, and I hope you like it!

I also made a ticket to our amazing production! Here it is in case you want to see:

I am so excited for the production, and I really liked making the ticket and the poster. Are you going to come to the production? I really hope you do. See you next time!
